Attorneys with Texas Center for Defense of Life representing a teen girl have filed a lawsuit to secure a temporary restraining order and injunction to save baby’s life.
HOUSTON, Texas — Attorneys with Texas Center for Defense of Life (TCDL.org), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Austin area, have filed a lawsuit in a the 215th District Court of Harris County, Texas, on behalf of a 16-year-old girl being coerced to have an abortion against her will. A copy of the lawsuit is attached to this press release to provide details regarding the facts in this case.
“Roe v. Wade and the right to choose go both ways,” said TCDL President Greg Terra. Mr. Terra continued, “the United States Supreme Court in Bellotti v. Baird (443 U.S. 622, 1979) held that a teenage girl has the absolute legal right to make her reproductive choices. This includes the choice not to have an abortion, even against the strong coercion of her parents. If the girl lives in Texas and chooses life, then we will stand with her in court in support of that choice.”
“No one should be allowed to decide that an innocent life–especially one that belongs to someone else–is worthless. The right not to have an abortion is protected by law, and this right is not relinquished just because someone else considers the child to be an unwanted burden,” added TCDL Chief Counsel Stephen Casey.
