Judge Grants Injunction in Houston Coerced Abortion Case
Attorneys with Texas Center for Defense of Life (www.TCDL.org) representing a 16-yearold Houston, Texas girl obtain injunction against girl’s parents for duration of pregnancy
HOUSTON, Texas — Today, attorneys with Texas Center for Defense of Life, who are representing a 16-year-old pregnant teenage girl living in the Houston area, were granted a long-term injunction in the case by the 308th Family District Court of Harris County, Texas, prohibiting their client’s parents from coercing her to have an abortion throughout the duration of her pregnancy. The language of the order signed by the Court was negotiated and agreed to by the girl’s parents.
“This is a tremendous victory and another life has been saved,” said TCDL attorney and President Greg Terra. He continued, “Our victory today stands for the principle that ‘choice’ goes both ways. Under Roe v. Wade and post-Roe cases, a teenage girl has the absolute legal right to choose life, even over the strong objections, pressure, and punishments of her parents. We are extremely happy with the outcome today and we are very proud of our teenage client for being strong enough to stand against her parents to save her unborn child’s life.”

Hello, your articles here Judge Grants Injunction in Houston Coerced Abortion Case | TCDL to write well, thanks for sharing!
hi!,I like your writing so so much! percentage
we be in contact more approximately your post on AOL?
I require a specialist in this house to resolve my problem.
May be that is you! Looking forward to look you.
Thank you for this… you have set a legal precedent to pregnant women that they do not have to get permission from parents or judges to have an abortion either! WTG!!
You never attended law school, did you…
Nothing about the judges ruling is contradictory with the Texas parental consent laws. One parent must still provide written notarized consent before a minor is allowed to have an abortion.
This ruling merely affirms that if a minor does not want an abortion, her parents cannot force, coerce, threaten, or intimidate her into getting one. It also does nothing to change Texas fetal protection laws, which would allow parents (or an abusive boyfriend$ to be charged with a crime for intentionally causing the death of a wanted unborn child.
I know that pro-abortion people have trouble with reading comprehension and logical progression of ideas, but come on!
I am extremely happy she will not have to have a abortion, but wonder what this does to parents rights. Such as a child can have a abortion without consent from the parent or father of the baby. This somehow adds more flame that parents have no say about their minor children.
Looks like you guys got everything you could have hoped for in that court order.
Job well done.
If she won the right to keep HER unborn child why do the parents have to continue to support her? I am confused as to why the parents have to now support something they did not sign up for. Can someone explain?
If her parents don’t want to support their daughter or granddaughter, then there are other families and organizations very willing to do so.
Hey Phil,
The parents did not have to choose to continue caring for her. At the hearing, they could have petitioned the court for emancipation. They didnt. Whether because they looked like monsters in the community for threatening to beat their daughter and slip abortion pills into her morning milk, or because they want a continuing relationship with their daughter is immaterial. They made a choice.
Now maybe YOU can explain why pro-choice progressives are so supportive of welfare benefits when it comes to illegal immigrants or the generic “poor” but are so offended at the thought that REK might seek public assistance.
